Living With Alzheimer’s: A documentary about a family’s dealings with the early stages of Alzheimer’s disease. I edited this film as my graduation piece.
A promotional video I directed, whilst working at iSPITV, for Tate Accident Repair Centre In Leeds
Another example of Particular is in John King’s trailer for LandEsacape. Here particular is mixed with live action footage taken from the streets of Paris. What I find particularly (pardon the pun) impressive are the lighting and shadow effects.
Experimental film is something that interests me. Here Chris Lavelle uses Trapcode’s Particular to create a particle system generated by sound and music in order to create a narrative of a life cycle.
The idea behind studentcooking.tv is to get students to cook for themselves and try new things instead of surviving off take-aways. This is a video I edited. The challenges when editing recipe videos are to make sure the video has a snappy pace to it without missing out any key parts of the recipe.
As an aspiring editor I am inspired by the work of others. In the film Out of Sight Anne Coates edits one of my favourite scenes. The way she intercuts the bar scene with the bedroom scene gives us a less-is-more feel that along with the brief freeze frames, heightens the sexual tension between the two characters. The scene itself takes inspiration from the 1973 film Don’t Look Now.
